ACCLAIMED CULINARIAN ROBERT HOHMANN NAMED CHEF DE CUISINE
OF 1500 OCEAN AT HOTEL DEL CORONADO

Coronado, CA—Celebrated Chef Robert Hohmann takes the reins of 1500 OCEAN, bringing his impressive 15 year career to Hotel del Coronado’s signature restaurant. Hohmann comes from New York, and has worked under the tutelage of a veritable who’s who of the culinary industry’s greatest chefs including Jonathan Benno, Mario Batali, Jacques Pepin and Thomas Keller. “We are thrilled to have a chef with Robert’s 5 star, 5 diamond and Michelin rated experience onboard and know his creative talents will take 1500 OCEAN to new heights,” says Steve Schackne, food & beverage director.

“I grew up in New York with Sicilian and German parents and discovered my passion for cooking at nine when I started working at a local pizzeria. My adventurous spirit continues today in my new role as Chef de Cuisine. My vision is to take California Coastal ingredients to create the contemporary Mediterranean flavors of Italy, France and Morocco for a priceless and memorable guest experience. And, I am very excited to debut my new menu on October 1st,” says Chef Hohmann.

Most recently, Hohmann was the Chef de Cuisine at Michael Chiarello’s famed Bottega Ristorante in Napa where they earned the James Beard Foundation nominee Top 5 Best Chef Pacific 2012. In 2010, Hohmann was the Consulting Executive Sous Chef of Lincoln Restaurant in Manhattan where he was hired to open the $25 million upscale venue. Between 2004 and 2010 he worked for the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group at Bouchon Bistro and Per Se as Executive Sous Chef and Chef de Partie respectively. He also worked at Del Posto as a Sous Chef.

Chef Hohmann received his Classic Culinary Arts Degree with honors from the French Culinary Institute in 2001 and in 1999 received Le Diplome de Boulanger~Artisan Baking Degree with honors and distinction.
