The Del's 120th Anniversary: 1888-2008
The Hotel del Coronado, Southern California’s Victorian landmark, celebrated its 120th birthday on February 19, 2008. Unbelievably, just eleven months after work on the foundation began, the hotel officially opened for business (though guests had begun checking in weeks before).
The Del will honor this monumental birthday throughout 2008 with a series of special events and promotions. In March, the resort also launched a new book on the construction of the hotel (complete with dozens of vintage photos) titled Building the Dream: The Design and Construction of the Hotel del Coronado.
