2017 Chef Throwdown

You are invited to be a part of an unforgettable evening of epicurean splendor showcasing the talents of over 25 of the best chefs from San Diego and Baja at the annual Chef Throwdown at the iconic Hotel del Coronado, benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The progressive evening will bring together local fashionable foodies awarding a ‘People’s Choice’ and a Culinary Council of celebrity top chefs and food critics, awarding the Chef Flor Franco Awards for Culinary Excellence. Last year’s judges included Richard Sandoval, Troy Johnson, Sam-the-Cooking-Guy, Claudia Sandoval and Brian Malarkey.
6 – 7:30pm | Chef Throwdown
Guests will gather on The Del’s oceanfront Windsor Lawn and enjoy appetizers from the competing local chefs. Mingle with the Culinary Council as they tally their favorites, and participate in a silent auction.
7:45 – 9:30pm | Seated Dinner
The program moves inside to the elegant Ballroom for a 4-course plated dinner with first course presented by Chef Throwdown 2016 winner Chef Rob Ruiz of the Land & Water Company. Dinner will be followed by a brief CFF program, live auction and award presentation including honoring Roger Harrington of Specialty Produce with the Industry Leader Award.
9:30 – 11:30pm | Nightcap
San Diego’s Young Professionals will host NightCap, the Chef Throwdown after-party. The Ballroom-turn-dance party will feature desserts, craft cocktails from local mixologists, and more hors d’oeuvres. The People’s Choice winner of NightCap will be crowned and given a spot to compete on the lawn for Chef Throwdown 2018. CHEERS! (mixologist) and Best for Last (dessert) winners will be crowned as well.
