2018 Chef Throwdown

Benfitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

You are invited to be a part of an unforgettable evening of epicurean splendor showcasing the talents of over 25 of the best chefs from San Diego and Baja at the annual Chef Throwdown at the iconic Hotel del Coronado, benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The progressive evening will bring together local fashionable foodies awarding a ‘People’s Choice’ and a Culinary Council of celebrity top chefs and food critics, awarding the Chef Flor Franco Awards for Culinary Excellence. 2018’s lineup of competing chefs and judges will be announced soon.

2017 EVENT DETAILS

Last year’s judges include Bernard Guillas from The Marine Room, Fishmonger Tommy Gomes, Armando Rodiel, creator of SD Paella & Wine Festival, and The San Diego Union-Tribune food writer Michelle Parente. Troy Johnson from San Diego MagazineGuy’s Grocery Games and more, and Food Network‘s Melissa d’Arabian served as host and MC for the evening.

Award-winning wines from Mexico’s beautiful Valle de Guadalupe were served including Monte XanicLomitaAdobe Guadalupe Winery andPaoloni Wines.

7:45 – 9:30pm | Seated Dinner

The program moved inside to the elegant Ballroom for a 4-course plated dinner. Dinner was followed by a brief CFF program, live auction and award presentation including honoring Roger Harrington of Specialty Produce with the Industry Leader Award.

9:30 – 11:30pm | Nightcap

San Diego’s Young Professionals hosted NightCap, the Chef Throwdown after-party. The Ballroom-turn-dance party featured desserts, craft cocktails from local mixologists, and hors d’oeuvres. The People’s Choice, CHEERS! (mixologist) and Best for Last (dessert) winners were crowned and the winner of NightCap was given a spot to compete in Chef Throwdown 2018.
