Is Hotel del Coronado open?

What measures are being taken to protect guests from COVID-19?

The wellbeing of our guests and Team Members is our highest priority, and we remain diligent in our commitment to provide a safe, hospitable environment for all who enter the hotel grounds. In response to COVID-19, we have taken additional measures, developed in consultation with global and local public health authorities (including the WHO and CDC), to make our cleaning and hygiene protocols even more rigorous.

As part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, we have implemented an industry-defining standard of cleanliness and disinfection, Hilton CleanStay with Lysol protection. Highlights of this program include: guestroom door seals to indicate no one has entered since the room was thoroughly cleaned; extra disinfection on high touch areas; removal of excess in-room amenities, guest-accessible hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes throughout the resort; contactless check-in/check-out; innovative disinfection technologies; and more. In addition, face coverings are required for all team members and guests in public areas with the exception of outdoor areas while maintaining a 6-foot distance from others. Disposable masks are available at the front desk. Team members are also screened daily for symptoms and receive temperature checks before reporting to work.

Can I visit the restaurants, spa, shops, or beach if I am not staying overnight?

Yes. We welcome San Diego locals and day visitors to enjoy The Del and our many onsite activities and dining venues. The following areas are reserved for overnight guests only: Cabana Pool and guest room areas. We also prioritize overnight guests at our dining outlets. Learn more about day trips to The Del.

How many pools are at the resort? Are they heated?

Hotel del Coronado’s newly updated Cabana Pool and jacuzzi is open and features poolside food and beverage service and private cabanas. Guests staying at Beach Village have exclusive access to the Oval Pool plus additional plunge pools and jacuzzis. Our pools are heated year-round.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in begins at 4pm. Check out by 11am. You are welcome to store your luggage with us so you can enjoy the resort to the fullest.

Are pets allowed?

Yes. The Del welcomes pets weighing 40 lbs or less with a maximum of 2 per guest room. To ensure the comfort of all of our guests, there is a non-refundable pet charge of $125 to cover deep cleaning costs completed after every pet departure ($200 per stay for Beach Village accommodations). Pets are to be leashed or in a carrier when in public areas and are not permitted inside pool areas, fitness center, spa, salon or dining areas except Sun Deck and Beach + Taco Shack.

How much is the resort charge daily and what does it include?

A $35 daily resort charge is added to the room rate and includes: Guest internet access; Fitness Center access (reservations required); live streaming of Netflix, Pandora, Hulu, YouTube and Crackle (must have your own account); and local and toll-free calls. Beach Village guests also enjoy complimentary use of sand chairs and umbrellas.

Can I reserve connecting rooms?

We would be happy to note the request for connecting or adjoining rooms in your reservation, but we are unable to guarantee connecting rooms.

Is there a shuttle service to and from the airport?

No. Hotel del Coronado has teamed up with Uber to provide safe and easy transport to your destination. To get your first Uber ride free (up to $20), sign up at get.uber.com/go/hoteldel, or download the app and enter the promo code hoteldel. Or, use Lyft and earn and redeem Hilton Honors points.

To arrange for private car service, contact LaCosta Limousine at 1-888-299-5466. Taxis are also readily available and can be called from the valet entrance. You can also take the Coronado Ferry across San Diego Bay to downtown San Diego; the Ferry Landing is 1.5 miles from The Del.

How much is parking?

Self-parking is available on the north side of the resort in our secure underground parking garage. Valet parking is not available at this time. Click here for parking rates.

What renovation work is in progress and will it impact my stay?

This is an exciting and historic time at The Del. We are significantly enhancing the resort to ensure it lives on for generations. We are making every effort to ensure that it won’t disturb your stay and make your next one incredible. Many of our renovated spaces have already been unveiled including the upgraded pool, Cabana guest rooms and meeting space, Sun Deck, Babock & Story Bar, ENO Market & Pizzeria, and Fitness Center. We look forward to opening the renovated lobby, front porch, south entry driveway, beachfront Windsor Lawn, lower retail shops, Ice House Museum, and upgraded guestrooms at The Views (formerly Ocean Towers) by July 2021. What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that your plans may change. Hotel del Coronado has a 72-hour cancellation policy over most dates. On certain dates this policy is extended to a 7 day cancellation period. The following dates have a 7 day cancellation period:

In 2021: May 28-31, June 18-21, July 1-5, Sept 3-6, Nov 24-29, Dec 17-31

A 1-night deposit is required at the time of booking. Cancellations made after the stated time period result in full forfeiture of deposit. Should you need to change or cancel your reservation, please have your confirmation number or credit card available when you call 1.800.468.3533.

Is smoking allowed in the rooms, balcony, or on the grounds?

All of our guestrooms, including balconies and patios, are non-smoking. Guests may smoke in designated smoking areas where ashtrays are located throughout the resort grounds, but it is not permitted in any other areas including the pool, restaurant patios, or indoor areas. Outside of resort grounds, the City of Coronado prohibits smoking on public property including the beaches.

What are the dining options at the resort?

Serẽa (upscale sea-to-table dining experience), Sun Deck (casual rooftop bar and grill experience with the best sunset viewing), Babcock & Story Bar (drinks and light fare), Beach + Taco Shack (casual beachfront bar and taco shack), ENO Market & Pizzeria (Italian-style marketplace and pizzeria), Sundaes (ice cream style gelato, reopening by Memorial Day 2021), Sheerwater (breakfast overlooking the Pacific, reopening by summer 2021). Crown Room Sunday Brunch and in-room dining are closed until further notice.

What are the top family activities at the resort?

1) The beach! Coronado Beach was named the world’s best by Dr. Beach, with sparkling gold sand and gentle waves. Hang out on a day bed or luxury lounge chair with food and beverage service at Del Beach. 2) Roast s’mores at sunset. 3) Surfing or paddleboarding lessons. 4) Rent a kayak, jetski, sailing or fishing adventure just across the street at Glorietta Marina. Are history tours available?

Currently, our history tours are temporarily unavailable. We look forward to bringing back our docent-led history tours, bringing life to the resort’s rich heritage, local San Diego legends, and most notorious ghost Kate Morgan. In summer 2021, we will also open the new Ice House History Museum on the south end of the resort.

Can I have a photoshoot at The Del?

Professional photography at Hotel del Coronado and its surrounding beach and outdoor areas is limited to protect our guests' privacy, ensure a flawless experience for our visitors, and maintain physical distancing throughout the resort. Overnight guests are welcome to have a photoshoot for personal use on the public part of the beach (close to the water). Contracted groups, weddings and social events are also able to conduct filming and photography as part of their event with prior notice to your event manager. Any identifying views of the hotel exterior or brand marks for commercial purposes must be approved by the hotel in advance (site location fees may apply).
