Restored Hotel del Coronado Lobby

Historic Preservation Fund Preserving a Legend.

Thank You for Helping Preserve the Hotel del Coronado for Future Generations.

Since 1888, the Hotel del Coronado has played host to celebrities, royalty, U.S. Presidents and generations of beach-loving guests. A San Diego icon, The Del has earned a place in the hearts and memories of community members and world travelers alike and in 1977 was designated as a National Historic Landmark. With the recent completion of a multi-year, $400 million Master Plan investment on the part of the hotel’s owners, meticulous care has been taken to restore the original Victorian Lobby, to re-introduce the hotel’s Front Porch that hasn’t been seen since 1961, and to rejuvenate historic buildings including the 1887 Power Plant, the 1889 Ice House, the 1919 Laundry Building and the 1887 Oxford Building.

Today’s Hotel del Coronado guests continue to enjoy the grandeur that has made this a treasured destination for 135 years and our goal is to continue to preserve this legendary landmark for the next 100 years.

As is the custom at many historic hotels across the U.S., a Historic Preservation Fund has been established to allow our guests to play an important role in preserving The Del’s legacy through their purchases at the hotel.

Therefore, the advertised Room Rate does not include taxes, Daily Resort Charge or a $15 per room, per night Historic Preservation Fund charge.  Retail prices for additional purchases at the hotel do not include taxes or a 1.888% Historic Preservation Fund charge.

We thank you for your partnership in this vital preservation effort, which will support ongoing daily maintenance and restoration projects such as:
• Restoration of the historic Crown Room and Ocean Ballroom
• Restoration of Victorian guestrooms and corridors
• Wooden balustrade replacement on the Victorian Building façade
• Enhancements to the historic Laundry Building
